The study of English is central to the learning and development of all young Australians. It helps create confident communicators, imaginative thinkers and informed citizens.
It is through the study of English that individuals learn to analyse, understand, communicate with and build relationships with others and with the new world around them. The study of English helps young people develop the knowledge and skills needed for education, training and the workplace. It helps them become ethical, informed and active members of society.

In years 7 to 9 students develop their functional literacy and begin developing critical literacy which enables them to not only understand, analyse and communicate but encourages them to become independent thinkers.
Year 10 extends this repertoire of skills to take with them into years 11 and 12. Kiara College offers both General and ATAR pathways in senior school. Senior students are guided by experienced and passionate teachers who challenge each of their charges to attain academic excellence.
