Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Vocational Education and Training (VET) opportunities are available to Years 10, 11 & 12 students and provide access to further education and training pathways, and nationally recognised qualifications.

Completion of certificates contributes toward attainment of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Students are provided with information about the courses available when selecting their Years 11 and 12 subjects.

Certificates offered at Kiara College include:
  • Certificate I in AgriFoods (Year 10)
  • Certificate II in Agriculture
  • Certificate II in the Music Industry
  • Certificate II in Retail Services
  • Certificate II in Sport and Recreation
  • Certificate II in Visual Arts
  • Certificate II in Workplace Skills

Students who elect to choose one of the Certificate courses will be provided with superior skills to enter TAFE or the workforce. The Certificate IIs are skills-based and require students to achieve specific competencies. Students who wish to enter the labour market directly, obtain an apprenticeship or continue studies at TAFE will gain underpinning skills in study and industry, develop language skills specific to the industry workplace, and access career pathways counselling and guidance.

The VET qualifications are the proposed offerings for the 2023 academic year. As at June 2022, no agreements have been entered into with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the delivery of the qualifications for 2023. Based on interest from students in the qualifications, the College will initiate a formal partnership agreement with an approved RTO for the delivery of the qualification.
